Dear Friends,

Have you ever taken something as simple as getting out of bed in the morning or serving yourself breakfast for granted? For many individuals with spinal cord injuries, that level of independence is no longer an option. Additionally, many have family members who were thrust into caregiver roles with no warning, causing a great deal of loss and depression for both parties. PossAbility Unlimited seeks to provide support for this amazing group of individuals and caregivers who are often forgotten by society and left with very little help.

Many individuals with spinal cord injuries have high levels of depression, up to 29% of the population affected by SCI vs. 9% in the general population (https://www.michiganmedicine.org/health-lab/spinal-cord-injury-increases-risk-mental-health-disorders). PossAbility seeks to provide support with community and social support, helping individuals see that they are not alone and develop a network of friends who understand their lives.

To keep fulfilling dreams, we need your help. Most of our individuals are on a limited income and cannot afford to come to a retreat and gain the support they need. A PossAbility retreat costs $40,000 for a long weekend ($80,000/year for two retreats), and PossAbility seeks to raise funding to make the event a reality for those who need it.

PossAbility Unlimited is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and holds retreats at Bradford Woods in Martinsville, Indiana, an adapted center owned by Indiana University. Most of the event attendees and volunteers will attend from Fort Wayne with a few coming from other states.

When and where: October 3-6, 2024, April 2025 TBD (events run April and October each year), Bradford Woods, 5040 State Road 67 N, Martinsville, IN 46151.

Support goal: All funds raised will help provide two long-weekends retreats for 10 individuals with spinal
cord injuries and their caregivers.

Event Audience and reach: Sponsors of PossAbility retreats will benefit from appearance on our website
and social media pages as well as a sponsorship sign on a retreat table which will also be shared on social media.
